Here come the drums here come the drums!

SANY00354S enthusistically participated in a morning learning to play drums Japanese-style. Beginning by learning the rhythm of the drum beat, the class were able to play a complete tune by the end of the morning. In spite of some complaining SANY0033that “we’ve been standing up all morning” (oh how terible it must be being eight years old!) no wrists fell off and everybody enjoyed themselves immensely!

When I grow up…

SANY0041In aid of “Children In Need” 4S came to school dressed in the uniform of the job they would like to do when they grow up (Mr Smith says he would like to be a lottery winner when – if – he grows up!). Bradley says he wants to be Thierry Henry, as long as he doesn’t have to work in Eire. Can you work out all the different occupations (jobs) that 4S are modelling?SANY0031.

Mrs Cartwright measures up!

November 19th, 2009 by · 6 Comments · Uncategorized

Mrs Cartwright and 4S were estimating the mass, capacity and length of various items, using metric measures. SANY0019Do you know your millimetres from millilitres? What units might you use to measure length? What measuring unit would be best for measuring the length of a ladybird, or the distance from Grimsby to Lincoln? Does Mr Smith weigh 73 grams or 73 kilograms (careful, 4S!)? Do you actually know what 1 kilogram would feel like so that you could then estimate the mass of other objects? SANY0027And why measure Mr Smith in kilograms and not pounds (or even tons – careful again, 4S!)? Why is the speed limit on a motorway 70 miles per hour and not, say, 85 kilometres per hour?

4S make friends!

P1000287P10002674S have been discussing friends and friendship in PSHE – what is a friend, what do we look for in a friend, and what does a friend do? These are just some of the questions we have asked ourselves.

In 4S there are lots of different groups of friends. Can you recognise yourself and your friends in these pictures?P1000299
